Why AI Video Generators Get Your Wedding Date Wrong (and How to Get Exact Text)

Why AI video generators misspell names and wedding dates, what Sora, Veo and Runway docs actually say, and how to get exact invitation text every time.

You type "Emma & Daniel, June 18" into an AI video generator and get back a beautiful clip with "Emna & Danel, Jume 81." Here's why it happens, what the official docs actually say, and how to make sure every guest sees the right names, date and venue.

Why generative video struggles with exact text

Text-to-video models create every frame as pixels from a description. They don't place letters with a font engine the way a design tool does, so lettering can come out misspelled or change between frames. The vendors themselves don't publish a text-accuracy rate, and we won't invent one.

What the official documentation does show (all checked October 14, 2026):

  • Prompts describe scenes, not layouts.
    • OpenAI's Sora guide advises describing "shot type, subject, action, setting, and lighting" (OpenAI). The same page notes that the Sora 2 models and Videos API "were shut down on September 24, 2026".
    • Runway's Gen-4 guide says the text prompt should be "almost entirely focused on describing the desired motion" (Runway).
  • Negative instructions aren't reliable. Runway says Gen-4 "negative phrasing is not supported and may produce unpredictable or even opposite results" (Runway prompting guide). So "don't misspell the names" isn't a fix.
  • Clips are short. Veo 3.1 generates 4, 6 or 8-second videos (Google Cloud). Runway Gen-4 offers 5 or 10 seconds (Runway). An invitation with names, date, time, venue and RSVP is a lot of exact text to fit into one generated clip.
  • Results vary by run. These tools are designed for iteration: generate, review, adjust. Each regeneration can change details, including any lettering.

Not covered here: image generators, which vary widely, and specific competitor products. We haven't run our own text tests and don't publish error rates.

How to get exact text with any tool

  1. Don't ask the AI to write the text. Generate a background or motion clip with "no text", then add names and dates as a text layer in an editor.
  2. Keep generated words to a minimum if you must include them, and check every frame.
  3. Proofread on the final file, not the prompt. Check names, weekday and date, time, venue spelling and the RSVP link.
  4. Have someone else check it before you send it to your whole guest list.

How Wedding AI handles text

Wedding AI is template-based, not prompt-based:

  • Details: you type your names, wedding date, venue and other details into a form, and they are "applied to whichever template you choose".
  • Preview: it uses "the same template, photos, text and music as the final render, so what you see is what you get, just in HD and without the watermark" (weddingai.studio FAQ, checked 2026-10-14).

So the text in your invitation is the text you entered, and you can check it in the free watermarked preview before paying. If a detail changes later, the Flexible plan includes 3 revised renders.

Honest limits:

  • Typos: if you enter a typo, the template will show it, so proofread the form.
  • Payment: the finished HD video is paid: a one-time $19.90 (Essential) or $39.90 (Flexible with 3 revisions). Each render comes as 1080p MP4 in 9:16 and 16:9 (pricing). A free account is needed.
  • Format: it's template-based, so you choose from our designs rather than describing any scene you can imagine.
  • Refunds: payments are non-refundable after you approve the preview, except for duplicate charges, and failed renders can be retried for free.

FAQ

Can I just prompt an AI video tool with my wedding details? You can, but check every frame for spelling and dates. Most official prompting guides focus on describing scenes and motion rather than exact typography.

What's the safest way to get correct names and dates? Put the text in as text, using a design tool, an editor's text layer, or a template form. Don't rely on the model generating it.

Does Wedding AI use AI? Our template samples are labelled as AI-generated clips. Your names, date and venue come from the details you enter and are shown in the free preview so you can verify them.

Is the preview free? Yes, the full watermarked preview is free with a free account. The HD video is $19.90 or $39.90, one-time.
